The Brief
A haulage company approached us to carry out a tailored fit-out for one of their Ford Connect SWB service vans. With a compact footprint to work with, their goal was to make the most of the available space while ensuring day-to-day tasks could be carried out efficiently on the go. They needed maximum storage and easy access to essential tools and parts from all entry points of the van.
As the van included twin sliding doors, they also required a smart racking layout that would allow them to reach items without having to climb inside. The solution needed to be robust enough for daily use across multiple job sites while remaining lightweight and practical for a smaller commercial vehicle.
Customer Requirements
- Full-length driver side racking for tool and parts storage
- Multiple drawers integrated into a raised floor for quick rear access
- Pipe storage hidden beneath the floor system
- External-access shelving from both side doors
- Interchangeable dividers for customisable organisation
What We Installed
- A full false floor system with twin pull-out drawers at the rear
- A third drawer accessible from the passenger-side sliding door
- Two floor-integrated pipe storage channels for longer items
- Three-shelf racking with removable dividers along the driver side
- Custom-built shelf unit accessible from the opposite sliding door
Final Outcome
The completed fit-out delivered a high-functioning mobile service solution, designed to keep everything easily accessible and well-organised. With robust drawers at both the rear and side doors, staff can grab tools quickly without needing to step into the van. The removable dividers give the customer flexibility in how they store their tools, consumables, and spares.
Thanks to the compact layout and clever use of space, this Ford Connect SWB now operates as a fully capable support van – ideal for the demands of a busy haulage operation. Everything is secure, streamlined, and simple to access, making day-to-day servicing much more efficient.
