The Brief
This Ford Transit Custom Crew Cab SWB was brought in by a Fire and Security company needing a well-thought-out storage solution that worked around the limitations of the van’s reduced load space. With a second row of seats installed, the available area at the rear was compact, so every inch needed to be planned carefully.
The customer wanted to safely store tools and equipment, keep smaller items organised, and retain enough open space for practical use day to day. Security and accessibility were key – the setup had to include a secure compartment for valuable tools, along with racking that made it easy to reach essential items quickly. The result needed to be compact, efficient, and suited to the demands of regular trade work.

What We Installed
- False floor system with a full-length pull-out drawer for easy tool access
- Securely fitted Armorgard vault beneath the raised floor for high-value equipment
- Bulkhead-mounted racking to maintain maximum floor space
- Angled racking for 5 toolboxes, providing quick and organised access
- Euro box racking for 6 containers, plus an additional shelf for overflow storage
- Additional open shelf installed above the Euro box rack for overflow or less frequently used items
This Ford Custom Crew Cab SWB now packs an impressive amount of storage into a tight space, delivering a well-thought-out solution for working in and around the limitations of a crew van. The raised floor and single pull-out drawer offer simple, effective tool access without compromising the van’s limited standing area. The inclusion of an Armorgard vault provides peace of mind for storing high-value equipment securely on the job or overnight.
By mounting all racking to the bulkhead, we retained a clear central floor space – essential in a short wheelbase with reduced depth. The angled rack and Euro box system keep tools and components well organised, while the additional top shelf and side compartment ensure even the smallest bits of kit have a proper place. Overall, this fit-out makes the most of a compact crew van setup – combining security, smart design, and everyday practicality in one compact, reliable layout.
