The Brief
This Toyota Proace fit out was for a company specialising in fleet tracking and telematics, who needed to maximise internal storage while keeping the layout efficient, professional, and practical for engineers working on-site.
As the Proace SWB is more compact compared to similar vans such as the Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, or Renault Trafic, the goal was to create a smart, space-conscious layout that could securely store tools, fittings, and sensitive equipment — all without losing the ability to move freely through the van.
Customer Requirements
- A layout that would maximise the available storage space in a compact van
- Easy access to tools and fittings from both the rear and side doors
- Storage for a combination of toolboxes, diagnostic devices, and small electrical components
- Pipe storage that wouldn’t interfere with loading or movement inside the van
- Retain standing access from the side door, even with a raised floor section
What We Installed
- Custom-built half false floor to allow full-height entry from the side sliding door
- Two full-length, heavy-duty drawers installed beneath the raised floor, offering secure storage for tools and equipment
- Integrated pipe storage channel built into the floor platform
- Angled racking system installed along the offside wall to hold and organise 14 stackable toolboxes
- Euro box container racking to accommodate six containers for small parts and consumables
Final Outcome
Despite the compact size of the Toyota Proace, this fit-out delivered a highly practical and well-organised solution for a fleet telematics business. The half raised floor gave the customer the storage they needed without obstructing movement inside the van, while the twin drawers and underfloor pipe channel maximised space. Angled racking allowed toolboxes to be stored securely and within reach, with a useful shelf added on top of the racking to provide extra storage for lighter items.
By concentrating the storage layout on the driver’s side of the van, we were able to keep the passenger side completely clear – giving the customer valuable internal floor space for moving around or loading larger items. The Euro box unit helped keep fittings and smaller components tidy and accessible, and the clean finish throughout gives the van a professional, efficient look. Overall, this compact van is now fully optimised to support engineers working across multiple sites, with everything stored securely and within easy reach.
