VW CADDY

Electrical Contractors Fit-Out

The Brief

This brand new VW Caddy SWB was brought in by a team of electrical contractors in need of a compact but effective storage system. With the Caddy offering less space than standard vans, the layout needed to make the most of every inch without compromising functionality. Their core request was a secure and organised setup that made loading and unloading simple. One of the top priorities was a reliable lockable storage solution for high-value tools and electrical equipment.

In addition to secure storage, the customer wanted dedicated drawer space that could be accessed quickly, including from the side door. They also asked for simple shelving along one side to keep commonly used tools and stock items tidy and within reach. As the van was brand new, protecting the interior was also important—so ply-lining was requested to ensure a clean, long-lasting finish throughout. The overall aim was a setup that could support day-to-day work without clutter, allowing the team to get the job done efficiently.

Customer Requirements

  • Secure and lockable storage for tools and electrical kit
  • Pull-out drawer for easy access to larger or heavier items
  • Side-access drawer for tools and parts needed on the go
  • Organised racking for smaller components such as valves, fittings, and test kits
  • Shelving along one side of the van for general storage
  • Ply-lining to protect the walls and create a professional finish

What We Installed

  • Full-length false floor system to split storage across two levels
  • Rear pull-out drawer with dividers for tool and cable organisation
  • Armorgard TrekDror installed underfloor for secure tool storage
  • Slimline pull-out drawer accessible via the sliding door
  • Angled racking designed to hold up to 10 Stanley and Makita toolboxes
  • Full-length open shelving to the driver side
  • Professional ply-lining kit to the walls, floor, and doors

Final Outcome

The completed fit-out gave the VW Caddy a completely new level of functionality. The false floor made it possible to separate bulkier gear from smaller items, while still leaving usable space above for carrying extra kit. The Armorgard drawer provided peace of mind for securely storing expensive tools, and both pull-out drawers offered smooth and quick access without needing to enter the van. This was especially helpful for busy electrical jobs where time and efficiency matter.

Despite being a smaller van, this setup proves how strategic planning and clever use of space can transform even the most compact load area into a practical and highly usable workspace. With all storage solutions designed to be simple and efficient, the team can now stay organised and operate more effectively day to day. It’s a smart, tidy, and secure layout that meets all the demands of a modern electrical contractor.
